A quick guide to recycling in the Portsmouth area.

Kerbside recycling

Drink cans, food tins, aerosols, plastic bottles (drinks, cleaning, washing-up, milk, shampoo, sun cream etc), paper, magazines, card, cardboard, small electrical items (put in a small bag on top of the recycling bin).

Recycling Banks

Glass, clothes, books, ink cartridges and water filters

In big supermarkets

By the tills – batteries.

In the big white fabric containers by the entrance:

Carrier bags and ‘stretchy’ plastic wrappings from bread (sliced), frozen vegetables, Quorn and multi-packs of cans.

Sainsburys (Commercial Road and Farlington) – in the big orange recycling banks in the car park: margarine, ice cream and confectionary tubs, rigid plastic food packets, yogurt pots and plastic lids.

Tin/ aluminium foil (scrunchy or rigid)

Costa Coffee

Takeaway coffee cups from any coffee shop.

Robert Dyas, Sainsbury’s and Curry’s PC World.

Energy saving light bulbs.
