Anne Frank: a History for Today

October 15 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Portsmouth City Council is collaborating with Hampshire Constabulary and One World Week to bring the Exhibition, Anne Frank: A History For Today, to Portsmouth during Hate Crime Awareness Week. It will be available to view from Monday 15 October to Friday 19 October 2018 at St Mary’s Church, Fratton Road, PO1 5PA. The exhibition charts Anne’s life against the backdrop of the rise of the Nazis. By placing the complex historical events of the Holocaust against the backdrop of the life of one inspirational young person, the exhibition enables visitors to grasp the human consequences of persecution and war. It thus provides the focus for educating people about the dangers of prejudice and discrimination, both historically and in contemporary contexts and situations, and what they can do to address these issues.

The exhibition will be open to the general public daily from 9am to 12noon. Groups can also contact Freida (Freida.M’Cormack@portsmouthcc.gov.uk, T: 07741235508) to organise a viewing and discussion outside of those hours.
